About Mashrafe Mortaza

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, affectionately known as the “Narail Express,” is a legendary figure in Bangladesh cricket, celebrated for his leadership, courage, and fast bowling prowess. Donning jersey number 2, Mashrafe made his international debut in 2001 and quickly became the face of Bangladesh’s pace attack. Despite multiple injuries and knee surgeries, his determination never waned, and he returned time and again to serve his country with pride. Mashrafe’s most significant impact came as captain, particularly in ODIs, where he led Bangladesh through a golden period, including series wins against India, Pakistan, and South Africa. Under his leadership, Bangladesh reached the quarter-finals of the 2015 World Cup and the semi-finals of the 2017 Champions Trophy. As a bowler, he relied on movement, accuracy, and clever variations rather than sheer pace. Though he retired from T20Is in 2017 and stepped down from ODI captaincy in 2020, his legacy continues to inspire. Off the field, Mashrafe is involved in politics and social initiatives, especially in his home district of Narail. Widely respected for his patriotism and resilience, Mashrafe Mortaza remains an enduring symbol of Bangladesh’s fighting spirit and cricketing progress.
